October 7, 2009:  Federal Trade Commission issues guidelines regarding online testimonials.  Website owners were to display disclaimers on their sites by December, 2009.  These guidelines are supposed to be regarding 'paid' testimonials by 'satisfied' clients or celebrities.  Our trusted representatives from inside the Beltway felt the need to protect intelligent people from themselves.  Thus, the need for this disclaimer.

We do not receive, or solicit paid testimonials for any purpose.

 Now you know.  Now you should feel protected.

In true government fashion, it remains unclear whether website owners must disclose affiliate links on websites.  These are links to companies or products where you might click to buy something and if you do, the 'Affiliate' (that would be this website) could possibly be compensated in some manner.  As unsavory as such a capitalistic action might be, if a product or service linked to on this site has an affiliate program, you can bet that the link we are using is an affiliate link.

Another outmoded form of capitalism that we employ is advertising (yes, for money).  We actively solicit advertisers to pay us to add their banners or other forms of advertising to our site and compensate us for sharing your eyeballs with them.  According to our friends at the FTC, you may not be smart enough to know what advertising looks like, so we are complying with this law in the hopes that we can protect you from yourself.  Yes, Virginia... we display advertisements and we may even link to a site that sells products that you might want, and be forewarned that if you buy something we might be compensated in some fashion.
